SpectorDance is proud to present the semi-annual Choreographer's Showcase. Come and see world-class dance right here on the Monterey Peninsula. This event brings an eclectic mix of choreographers together to share their original works. This event provides a unique opportunity for diverse artists and audiences to come together to share the beauty and power of contemporary dance. In this way, local audiences are introduced to cutting edge choreography and dance that they might not have the chance to see otherwise. This event offers something for everyone and is always an audience favorite.


Choreographer Bios

Terronique Brown is the Artistic Director and Choreographer for Live Dance Collective. She began her dance training at the age of 9 in Atlanta, Georgia at Dance Moves Dance Academy under the direction of Sahar Coleman. Where she competed in various styles of dance and won many national titles. She continued to dance throughout her childhood. At 14, she was invited to participate in the prestigious Alvin Ailey summer intensive. As a student at Georgia Southern University, she was a member of of the nationally ranked Southern Explosion Dance Team from 2006-2008. She also cheered on the championship winning competition squad from 2008-2010. She also served as the Director of Dance at Spirit & Truth Worship Center, and she also had to opportunity to choreograph several musicals under the direction of Mical Whitaker. She is a dancer, choreographer, and instructor in the Bay Area.

Nancy Evans Doede is the artistic director of Nancy Evans Dance Theatre, a modern-based company established in 2009. NEDT has produced WORKS 2010-2015 and FRIENDS/FAMILY/DANCE/FESTIVAL 2011-2015.5. The company is in residence at Porticos Art Space in Pasadena. Nancy Evans Dance Theatre has performed in various festivals, including the 4th-7th Annual Pasadena Dance Festivals, TriArt Festival, MixMatch, Awakenings & Beginnings, ArtNight Pasadena, AdaptFest, ArtBark International's Show and Tell Series, SpectorDance Choreographer's Showcase, and has been a guest company at Moorpark College's Motion Flux concert and Jacksonville Dance Theatre. NEDT is committed to to share stories through movement that expose us as imperfect, vulnerable, sometimes ludicrous... human. For without art, we are incomplete. Mads Eriksen grew up in Copenhagen Denmark, where he attended The Royal Danish Ballet School. After his graduation in 2002, he joined The Royal Danish Ballet. From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Eriksen performed soloist roles in numerous ballets including, Bournonville's "Napoli"; Ratmansky's "Anna Karenina"; Lander's "Etudes"; Balanchine's "Tchaikovsky's Second Piano Concert" and "Symphony in C"; Martins "Les Gentilhommes"; Limon's "The Unsung"; Macmillan's "Manon" as well as having the opportunity to originate roles in ballets by leading choreographers including, Neumeier, Ratmansky, Stroemgren, Uotinen, and Rushton.
In 2007 Mr. Eriksen joined Ballet San Jose, dancing various roles such as Von Rothbart in Nahat's "Swan Lake" Spanish in Nahat's "The Nutcracker"; as well as roles in Balanchine's "Theme and Variations"; Nahat's "Summerscape"; "Mendelsohn Symphony" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Mr. Eriksen began teaching at Ballet San Jose School in 2008 and was named Senior Faculty in 2012. Mr. Eriksen is an ABT Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 7 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.  

Stephanie Golden grew up dancing under the direction of Nicole Lucia at Danceology Performing Arts Campus with training in Jazz, Modern, Tap, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. She has participated in many conventions from 2001 to 2012 including NYCDA, LADF, PULSE, ACDFA, and Hip Hop International. She was part of Unity Dance Ensemble in San Diego and Los Angeles under the direction of "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographer and "Dancing with the Stars" Emmy Award Winner Tessandra Chavez. Stephanie has a BFA in modern dance from Utah Valley University and has taught Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Modern from 2007 to present. She was a member of Salt Lake City dance companies Urban Dance Organization and United We Dance. Stephanie has choreographed for middle and high school dance teams, college student dance concerts, and outside benefit concerts. She started the Dore Dance Company, a contemporary-modern dance company based in San Francisco which provides dance education and performance workshops for children as well as young professionals in the bay area.

Traci Klein is originally from Sarasota, Florida and holds a BFA in dance performance from Southern Methodist University where she performed works by Paul Taylor, Mary Cochran, Agnes de Mille, and Larry White.  During her MFA at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, she had the pleasure of working with Jill Johnson, who restaged a work by William Forsythe, and with Ronald K. Brown.  While in NYC, Ms. Klein was a soloist with the Martha Graham Ensemble and performed with CorbinDances, James Martin Music/Dance, OpenProject, Loteria Performing Arts, and Sublime Dance Company.  She has taught master classes in Spain and Mexico, and has presented choreography in New York, Spain, Mexico, and France.  She is a certified Mind Body Dancer yoga instructor with the Perri Institute for Mind and Body and is currently an Assistant Professor of Dance at Texas A&M International University.

Jobel Medina is a performer and choreographer raised in the Philippines. He migrated to the United States at age thirteen. His interest for dance began in high school. He recently received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance as CSULB (2015). Jobel has trained under Keith Johnson, Rebecca Lemme, Lorin Johnson, Lisa Johnson, Stehanie Powell, Sophie Monat, John Pennington, John Beasant III, and Rebeca Bryant. He has also attended workshops by BODYTRAFFIC, The Cambrians, and Ririewoodburry. Jobel's pieces have been presented at the American Dance College Festival in 2014 (University of Montana) and 2015 (California University of Long Beach). His work was also selected for the Gala Performance at the University of Montana and as an alternate for the National College Dance Festival Performance at the John F. Kennedy Center. Jobel had also co-produced two studio concerts at CSULB Department of Dance. When he is not performing, teaching, or choreographing, he enjoys travel, photography, and spending time with his newborn niece.

Angela Dice Nguyen, raised in Somerset, PA, earned a BFA in dance from Point Park University under the direction on Susan S. Stowe. Angela spent three seasons with Danceworks Chicago, let by Artistic Director Julie Nakagawa, before relocating to San Francisco in 2014. She has had the pleasure of working with choreographers such as Kyle Abraham, James Gregg, Joshua Manculich, Robert Moses, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Ahmad Simmons, and Demis Volpi, among others, and she currently performs with San Francisco Opera and Tanya Bello's Project.b. Angela founded The MoveMessenger(s) in 2015 as a vehicle to create alongside other artists from the Bay Area and beyond
