Benjamin Barker (alias Sweeney Todd) returns to the slums of 19th-century London after spending 15 years in exile in Australia for a crime he didnt commit. He arrives to find that his wife is dead and his daughter is under the supervision of the corrupt judge who wrongly sent him away. Tormented by unbearable grief and driven to kill by the need to avenge this terrible wrong, Sweeney sets up as a barber and starts to murder his unsuspecting customers, after which his accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, bakes them into pies that prove extremely popular with the local populace.
