Under the Hills by West of Roan
"Sing the shadow near..."
Follow the Gray Ghost under the hills where the wounded moon rests, awaiting the girl who can heal her.
Traditional songs and tales are recast in new light as a chorus of singers animate puppets in a sparse, shadowed landscape of white quilted trees. Journey through death and into life again in this intimate narrative of sacrifice, loss, and the restorative power of song. Featuring original music inspired by Appalachian folk songs and Romanian hymns, a chorus of singers animate puppets in a sparse, shadowed landscape of white quilted trees. Under the Hills comes from deep within the minds and hearts of puppeteers and musicians Annie Schermer and Channing Showalter.
MR RIGHT FLAG: A PASSION, by Penelope Hillfrau
It is a solo puppet-drama about almost everything in life. The zoo of life! With the people we know and the stories we live, a bit smaller but just as grotesque, yet infuse with grace and gentleness. A trip through the labyrinth of someone's brain, featuring various techniques of puppetry and a few Italian proverbs for good measure. It's unclear if this show was given birth or thrown up. Penelope Hillfrau has worked with Bread and Puppet theater for 10 years, and collaborated with theater companies around the world. She co-founded the Flying Donkey Puppet Theater with fellow puppeteer Jason Hicks.
