A"ALMA MAHLER: ARTIST, LOVER. MUSE" explores songs from the milieu of 20th Century composers who fell in love with Alma Mahler. Featuring songs by Alexander von Zemlinsky, Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss, Alban Berg, and Alma Mahler herself. An projection of images by Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, and Walter Gropius will explore Alma's influence on turn-of-the-century visual art and architecture, with readings from Franz Werfel's novels and Alma Mahler's correspondences.
The program is conceived and will be performed by DANIELLE BUONAIUTO, a wonderful soprano, who brings a keen interpretive intelligence and lustrous voice to her performance of art song. She will be accompanied by BETHANY PIETRONIRO, currently a Vocal Arts Collaborative Fellow at Bard College.
