Desert Island Live! The Music of Joni Mitchell II
Desert Island Live is back to present Taylor O'Donnell and Joni Mitchell Part 2. Revisiting material from their first sold-out Dance Hall appearance, Taylor, Jonny Peiffer, and their musical friends will be performing selections from Blue and Court and Spark, as well as the entirety Hejira. Hejira, released in 1976, represents a major stylistic shift in Joni Mitchell's songwriting from earlier works. Desert Island Live is excited to celebrate Joni's legacy in this way yet again.
Ensemble:
Taylor O'Donnell - vocals Jonny Peiffer - keys, percussion Chris Klaxton - trumpet, guitar Matt Langley - saxes Jim Dozet - guitar Nate Therrien - bass Eric von Oeyen - drums
Taylor O'Donnell is no stranger to the Dance Hall nor the Seacoast music scene. She of course is a leading member/co-founder of Mother Superior and the Sliding Royales, and a perennial member of Chris Klaxton's groups, among other projects of her own. She has an impressive list of performing credits having performed and studied with some of the living greats in jazz. O'Donnell was first introduced to the music of Joni Mitchell by her high school choir teacher and has been hopelessly hooked ever since.
Jonny Peiffer is best known to this area as the founding force behind projects like Shango Afrobeat Orchestra and Sojoy, as well as this Desert Island Live series dedicated to the performance of full-length classic albums. So far the project has shined it's light on Tom Waits as well as Joni Mitchell, all of which have been wildly popular. Looking forward to another great night with these generous and talented musicians performing this deep, rich music.
