Professional Development for High School Educators: Inspiration in Black
How might visual art create a space for reflection and discussion about ideas? Educators are invited to investigate works of art featured in the current exhibition, Black: Color, Material, Concept that explore the ways that modern and contemporary artists of African descent consider the possibilities of "black" through their choice of media, their imagery and the ideas they bring to their work.
The day will include a guided tour of the exhibition, including a curator conversation, gallery activities that model strategies for using art in the classroom, and a hands-on workshop with 201516 artist in residence, Jordan Casteel. Educators from all disciplines are encouraged to attend. Discover ways to make connections between contemporary art and the Common Core and ELA subjects. Don't miss this great opportunity to learn about resources for educators, upcoming programs, and opportunities for your school!
Professional Development for High School Educators is FREE, and RSVP is required. Breakfast and refreshments will be served.
