Small Business Lunch at Halls
The King Street Marketing Group and Halls Chophouse are pleased to welcome Dr. David J. Cole, President of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) as our guest speaker Thursday, January 7th.
Dr. Cole is also championing the campaign to raise $350 million to pay for the new MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital and Women's Pavilion at MUSC.
Dr. Cole leads one of the largest businesses in Charleston with 13,000 clinicians, faculty, staff and students with nearly 3,000 students in six colleges. The teaching staff alone is comprised of more than 1,500 full and part-time faculty members.

MUSC has grown from a small private medical school founded in 1824 into one of the nation's top academic health science centers, with a 700-bed medical center and six colleges. As South Carolina's only comprehensive academic health center providing a full range of programs in the biomedical sciences, MUSC is engaged in activities statewide. Its campus is located on more than 80 acres in downtown Charleston.
"We have a bold new vision for children's health," said MUSC President David J. Cole, M.D. "We still have work to do but this facility will become a landmark for world-class children's health care and will impact every family in our state. We are tremendously grateful and excited."
MUSC expects to break ground in 2016 and open the doors to the new hospital in 2019 on the corner of Calhoun Street and Courtenay Drive. It will replace the 28-year-old Children's Hospital currently located on Ashley Avenue, providing much needed space for the thousands of patients and families served by MUSC each year.
The new facility will provide more spacious, family-centered amenities and expanded services, including an expanded neonatal intensive care unit, an entire floor dedicated to the care of children with cancer, and the most comprehensive pediatric heart center in South Carolina.
Each month, Small Business Lunch at Halls features a distinguished speaker from the business, civic or political arenas upstairs at Halls Chophouse with an imaginative three-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Niessner.
Tickets are $29 per person plus tax and processing fee for the luncheon. Doors open at 11:30 AM and lunch is served promptly at noon. Limited seating of 90 participants provides an intimate experience with each speaker.
Halls Chophouse is located at 434 King Street in downtown Charleston. Convenient parking is available at the Visitors Center Garage on Ann Street between King and Meeting Streets.
