Date: Saturday, January 23rd Time: 7:00pm Location: Vidiots Annex
Vidiots Foundation presents a special screening of the cult classic from 1981 "Roar." No animals were harmed in the making of this movie. 70 members of the cast and crew were.
"It's like Walt Disney went insane and shot a snuff version of Swiss Family Robinson" - Hitfix
"Like watching a live action Lion King as Mufasa holds a switchblade to your throat" - Complex
"Just watching it feels dangerous" - Movies.com
An unprecedented - and wholly unpredictable - action-adventure, ROAR follows wildlife preservationist Hank ('The Exorcist' producer Noel Marshall in his sole and career-derailing turn as an actor and director), who lives harmoniously alongside a menagerie of 100+ untamed animals, including cheetahs, elephants, lions and tigers on a preservation in the African plains. When his wife and children arrive (real-life wife Tippi Hedren, 'The Birds,' and step-daughter Melanie Griffith, 'Working Girl') for a visit, a long-brewing battle for dominance between the lions erupts and threatens their very lives.
Doors will open at 6:30 PM and screening will begin at 7:00 PM.
All proceeds go towards the Vidiots Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the cinematic and media arts in the form of preserving and protecting our collection of over 50,000 rare and classic VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray titles.
Vidiots celebrates cinema and the vitality of independent art through education, archival preservation and accessibility. The Vidiots Foundation connects people to experience evolving media, taking video store culture into the 21st century.
