Love Song
Has a fork ever lied to you? A sweater ever told you that you were visible?
Beane spends most of his time alone in an apartment that is trying to kill him. His only social interactions are with his protective sister Joan and her understanding husband Harry. Beane is creative and poetic but detached from his senses. In walks Molly, a fearsome burglar, who liberates all of Beane's belongings and brings a marching band stomping through his heart, making him alive for the first time in his life. Beane's unconventional response to this intrusion shakes up Joan and Harry's relationship as well, revealing the possibility of something richer.
LOVE SONG is a funny, romantic story of loneliness, siblinghood, marriage, and the way love creates its own reality. Directed by Jenni Taggart and produced by KTO Productions, LOVE SONG features Seattle actors Elizabeth Deutsch, Dara Lillis, Ryan Sanders, and Lauren Skelton.
"What should be treasured most about John Kolvenbach's play, LOVE SONG...is the fact that it is a work of, by and for the live stage. It is the stuff of pure theatre. Its language, relationships, imagery and overall worldview are deeply rooted in the hothouse atmosphere of that most intimate and fantastical forum. As the title suggests, love is a major element in the equation...but, of course, if love is in the picture, so are loneliness and a certain madness. Mix all this together and you've got quite a volatile concoction. LOVE SONG is about nothing less than the chaos of being human, and the yearning for everything." Chicago Sun Times
