The Slavyanka Russian Chorus & Kostroma Present: Winter Songs from Russia & Eastern Europe
On January 23-24, 2016, the Slavyanka Russian Chorus (in conjunction with Kostroma,a group of women singers whose love of Russian folk music is highly infectious!)will perform Winter Songs from Russia & Eastern Europe,an a cappella concert of Slavic and Baltic choral music to celebrate Orthodox Christmas in January.
This winter concert series will feature three different choir arrangements:
The Slavyanka Women's Chorus will perform carols from Latvia, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
The Slavyanka Men's Chorus will perform carols and folk songs from Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia, as well traditional Russian coachmen pieces.
The combined Chorus will perform traditional carols from Serbia and Ukraine, plus two contemporary winter compositions from the renowned Russian composer Georgij Sviridov.
There are two performances in this concert series; Palo Alto on Saturday, January 23 and San Francisco on Sunday, January 24.
IMPORTANT TICKET PURCHASE NOTES:
*Online sales (ticket price: $17) will end six hours before concert time. Tickets will continue to be available for purchase at the door (ticket price: $20).
*Children ages 18 and under are invited to enjoy our concert for free; however, please obtain a free ticket for them. This is important for our venue capacity counts. Thank you very much!
