The Boston Circus Guild presents THRESHOLD
THRESHOLD is The Boston Circus Guild's most ambitious production yet, bringing together dance, music, and circus arts to tell the stories of the thresholds between each other and the motions of ourselves as we cross and re-cross them.
Do you remember your first kiss? That intense, liminal moment before your lips touched, while the universe hung suspended on your breath, when it seemed like anything could happen? A moment after which nothing had changed and yet nothing and no one would ever be the same? THRESHOLD is that moment, captured in the endless second that an aerialist hovers, vulnerable, in empty space; in the instant of perfect balance that a contortionist finds amid the twisting chaos of her limbs; in the breath-catching stillness in the rhythm of music and movement.
Join us as five acrobats explore the dimensions of space between people, moments of suspension and connection, and the anticipation of moving in and out of relationships with each other. Set to an all original score of live music, THRESHOLD features breath-taking group acrobatics, aerials, contortion and hand balancing that will enthrall and move you as you watch lovers walk on air before their first kiss, lift each other up and hold each other back, and tie themselves in knots over romantic entanglements. Be prepared to be surprised by what "circus" can mean! THRESHOLD is an experience that will not only make you gasp in awe at the capacity of the human body, but also evoke the universal experiences of loving another person: delight, longing, despair, trepidation, and joy.
