The musical pairing of Paul Rishell and Annie Raines has been likened to a match made in Blues Heaven, following in the footsteps of virtuosic duos like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Muddy Waters and Little Walter, and Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy. They have recorded 6 albums together, including MOVING TO THE COUNTRY, the W.C. Handy Award Winner for Acoustic Blues Album of the Year, and received multiple nominations for Blues Music Awards.
Paul and Annie's new project, MOJO RODEO, features these veterans of Boston's music scene joined by old friends Chris Rival on guitar and Mike Avery on drums and newcomers from Berklee College of Music's Country Blues and Roots programs, including bassist/vocalist Brad Bensko, fiddle wizard Kathleen Parks and folk soprano Christie Flemming, reimagining blues, bluegrass, honky-tonk country, classic oldies and choice originals. With tight vocal harmonies and a melding of old and new, they transform the street corner duo into an Americana Jubilee.
"While their guitar, harmonica, and vocals are roiling, muscular, and masterful, their shows are down home- friendly and fun-loving." - Scott Alarik, Boston Globe
