Stroke: Causes, Treatment and Prevention
Strokes can cause a variety symptoms: blindness, paralysis, trouble walking, inability to talk, slurred speech or inability to understand language. Resulting disabilities limit independence and may include a risk for lifelong complications. Prompt recognition of signs and symptoms and immediate treatment is crucial in minimizing disabilities, and to prevent recurrent stroke. This seminar will review:

Dr. Darshan Shah specializes in neurology and neuromuscular disease. He received his medical degree from Ross University Medical School in Portsmouth, Dominica, and completed his internal medicine residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center and his neurology residency at University of Chicago Hospitals. He is certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Shah is a member of the Community Memorial Hospital medical staff.
