Chris Luquette with Steve Blanchard
Chris Luquette with Steve Blanchard team up for a fabulous show at the Thumb!
Chris performs full time with 2015 Grammy nominee Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen, and was a founding member of popular Northwest bluegrass band Northern Departure. Steve Blanchard performs with Portland, Oregon-based Bluegrass and American roots duo Slipshod, and performed with Northwest festival favorite Prairie Flyer for many years. Chris and Steve, both endorsing artists of Preston Thompson Guitars, will be featuring the flat top acoustic guitar on bluegrass tunes and other favorites. Start 2016 with live and local Northwest music and get a dose of guitar to help turn over the calendar.
CHRIS LUQUETTE - Chris is one of the hardest working musicians in the Seattle music scene. You'd be hard pressed to find another 25-year-old who can so seamlessly transition from International Music to Jazz, Rock, and Bluegrass so comfortably. He has even studied Brazilian Jazz with Seattle-based Brazil music legend, Jovino Santos Neto. Chris's musicianship reflects the multitude of musical influences he turns to for inspiration. His acoustic guitar playing really stands out, but this virtuoso, multi-instrumentalist is equally at home playing mandolin, drums, bass, electric guitar, banjo, and Greek bouzouki!
Chris was a founding member of Seattle-based Northern Departure and has found himself sitting in with Jerry Douglas, Emmylou Harris, Rob Ickes, The Steep Canyon Rangers, Kenny and Amanda Smith, The Boxcars, Yogi and The Yogini's, and many others. Chris now plays with the Grammy-nominated bluegrass band Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen and has been traveling the world with them for the past four years. Chris shares his time with Baltimore MD/Washington DC and his native home in Renton, Washington.
STEVE BLANCHARD - Hillsboro, Oregon-based guitarist performed many years with Northwest Bluegrass group Prairie Flyer before starting roots and bluegrass duo Slipshod with Matt Snook. He is a well-versed acoustic flat pick guitarist, singer and songwriter with a career spanning over four decades. His musical style includes bluegrass, cowboy/western, folk, and Americana.Whether performing with his driving rhythm in the Northwest favorite "Prairie Flyer" or as a reflective solo artist, Steve takes his audience on a musical adventure, experiencing a wide range of emotions from quiet introspection to plain, good old hand-clapping, foot-stomping fun!
