Introduction To Action/Experiential Methods In Clinical Social Work: Theory and Technique
This course is offered by Lifestage, Inc, an approved provider of Continuing Education for social workers by the New York State Education Department's Board for Social Work.
Experiential methods are creative, holistic approaches to individual and group work rooted in Role Theory. These methods are derived from Psychodrama and Sociometry, which were developed originally by JL Moreno and have subsequently been applied to many contexts: organizational, educational, therapeutic work. Clinicians trained in these techniques and theory have a wealth of tools available that are applicable in every aspect of the clinical process. This training is an introduction to the fundamental techniques from which experiential methods are drawn and expanded upon, and an overview of Role Theory.
You will learn: The purpose of warm-up in experiential work and its uses in individual and group therapy;
The 5 basic instruments of experiential methods and discuss their application in individual and group therapy;
The 5 stages of an experiential process in clinical work;
Important and relevant literature about Role Theory;
