Upon completion of this incredible weekend you will get a guaranteed certificate to boost your resume or to show to your friends.  You will have the option of testing and being recognized nationally with Dueling Arts International for an additional fee. (This is not required). You will learn Unarmed/Hand-to-Hand, Intro to knife, Tai Chi and a few other surprises to boot! Stage Combat is a mixture of choreography and illusion. It teaches the participant about communication, humility and cooperation. By using these skills we can create heightened drama and powerful stories.

Bang for your buck
Each participant receives training from the most experienced youth stage combat teacher in the nation. Upon completion of the course each participant will receive a certificate of completion and if they so desire (for an additional fee - $25.00) they may have their work adjudicated by the national governing body of Dueling Arts International. http://www.duelingarts.com. The workshop cost is $105.00 per person. This course typically starts at $150 so you are receiving a $45 discount. If two or more people use you as a referral Orion will pay your Dueling Arts testing fee.

What are the Benefits to Learning Stage Combat for the Actor/ Performer/ Dancer?
Marketability:
By putting another skill (that you actually have) on your resume, you make yourself more marketable. Did you know that video games are the highest grossing national export? Did you know some of the biggest game makers are here in Chicagoland? Mortal Kombat, Injustice and more. Did you know because of shows like Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, extras and stunt actors are booming in Chicago?

Versatility:
With stage combat skills you add another dimension to your acting skills. It gives you access to more character traits and types of characters.
Safety:
As an actor you learn skills to keep you physically safe. There are many stories about actors getting hurt because they didn't know what they were doing and the people in charge had no training.
Conflict:
All drama has conflict. When you train in stage combat you learn how to build that conflict, what the different types of conflict are, and how different characters react.
Physical Control:
As actors, your body is your instrument. The story being told needs to be conveyed with your body even more than it does with your lines. Stage combat helps actors get to know their bodies and how to use them, as well as how to find a character's physicality.
Discipline:
Actors must become disciplined quickly when dealing with staged violence because of the safety factors.
Fields of Study:
Stage combat training covers many aspects of study such as world history, relationships, psychology and the dynamics of society.

What are the Benefits to Learning Stage Combat for the Non  Actor/ Performer/ Dancer?
Communication:
Stage Combat is one of the finest non verbal training skills anyone can have. We teach full body listening and we share in our responsibility for the outcome.
Catharsis:
It's an incredible rush to work on the illusion of violence. To come through it completely unscathed on the other side. There is also an emotional release to playing the bad guy or hero in a given scene. In an age where we repress these emotions, this is a safe place to tap them.
Physical Control:
Like learning ballroom dance or trapeze, two people must learn how to physically share the same space. This is not a martial art but there are martial aspects to harnessing the mind and body to tell a collaborative story.

Why? Because it's a blast!!!!
