Alan Reid & Rob van Sante: Scottish Folk
Occidental Center for the Arts is pleased to host the founder member and sound engineer of the legendary Battlefield Band in duo, presenting a mix of traditional and original Scottish folk songs on piano, guitars and accordion. Scots Trad Award nominee Alan Reid, a frequent guest on NPR's Prairie Home Companion, toured the world for over 30 years with the band and musicians such as Van Morrison and Mike Oldfield. He was the first to use the keyboard in traditional folk/Celtic band performance, as well as playing guitar and acccordion. His warm vocals and well respected original compositions blend seamlessly with Dutch-born guitarist Rob van Sante's skillful guitar accompaniment, with van Sante also contributing lead and harmony vocals as well as mandolin, bass, synthesizers and percussion. www.reidvansante.com
