PHIL EDMONDS AND MIKE FISHEL BRESLER
As Fishel says, "This is inspirational music you have to play it from your kishkes (innards) and from your heart." The pair nonetheless makes humor and high spirits an integral part of every presentation, and draws in audiences of all types and ages. .
FISHEL (Michael) BRESLER (clarinet, flute, mandolin, harmonica) has studied Klezmer clarinet and mandolin with the contemporary master, Andy Statman, over the course of more than a decade. Fishel Bresler has also served as a Master Artist in three Klezmer apprenticeships, from the RI State Council on the Arts & NEFA. He Received the 2009 Folk Arts Fellowship from the RI State Council on the Arts. Currently he also works doing therapeutic music with multiply-handicapped children, and teaches both children & adults in several area schools and programs.
PHIL EDMONDS, musician, community activist, writer, and farmer, has been friends of Fishel for decades. Last year was the first time they performed as a duo on stage. Phil has performed with many ensembles over the years, notably The Gnomes. Last year he released a CD of original music. Phil, a native of Killaloe, County Clare, Ireland, has been entrenched in the global sounds from the Providence area. Besides performing with The Gnomes band, catch him some Friday nights sitting in with Zerui DePina's Cape Verde band at Tropical in Central Falls, or busking downtown Providence.
