Chora Corpora - Liz Erber Dance
Conduit is pleased to present Liz Erber's Chora Corpora, a danced investigation of the spine--our ancient vertebral backbone--its undulation and evolution. The dance connects to the physical possibilities passed down through a long line of evolutionary history, revealing kinetic meaning and cell, bone, and blood memory, through wave-like, cyclical, continuous, and ever-evolving sequences and phrasing. Choro Corpora is performed by Liz Erber and a company of Seattle-based dancers.
Liz Erber is an interdisciplinary artist/choreographer that focuses primarily on the creation of body-based dance works that often integrate elements of theater, writing, music and/or video. Originally from the USA she has been based in Berlin since 2008. Her work naturally draws from her background in contemporary dance (BA from University of Washington, Seattle), improvisation and composition, release techniques and somatic practices, contact improvisation, capoeira, gymnastics-acrobatics, and theater. She performs regularly in her own work, in collaboration with others, as an improviser, and also teaches dance and movement improvisation to children and adults. In 2011, Liz was an artist in residence at K77 Studio in Berlin, presenting performances in May and November. She has recently been invited to present her work in Seattle, Portland, Hungary and Lithuania in 2012. More info at www.lerber.com.
