BRÜKA THEATRE 23rd SEASON - RAISE YOUR VOICE THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK A Portrait in Courage Written by Frances Goodrich & Albert Hackett Directed by Holly Natwora

RENO, NV. In this gripping and intimate stage adaptation of The Diary Of Anne Frank at Brüka Theatre, director Holly Natwora focuses on the courage and continued belief in the goodness of people described in Anne's diary that was saved from the Nazi's after Anne's capture. This belief became a beacon of survival despite the desperate circumstances in which Anne Frank and her family found themselves when they decided to go into hiding for two years during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. With a stellar cast, the play absorbs audiences into the experience of this profound and symbolic time and the life of a courageous family and their friends who decided to hide together in order to protect their children despite the great risks surrounding them. The story also illuminates the coming-of-age of a complex, passionate young girl as she falls in love, grows into a woman and struggles to survive with her family amid the chaos of war and religious persecution. It also offers hope for the fate of humanity in the face of unthinkable cruelty.
As Natwora states: "Art has the ability to move people into action. Theatre by its very nature is a communal event. By coming together we bear witness to those lives who were lost in the Holocaust. History can show us the error of our ways. I invite you to join us at Brüka Theatre and celebrate what is good in the human spirit. Help give rise to the possibility of understanding and acceptance. The future is what we make it."
