Evening @ the Barn: A Salute to Marion Davies
The Hollywood Heritage Museum will be presenting an evening dedicated to actress Marion Davies. The exhibition features recent donations of Marion Davies memorabilia from the estate of long-time Davies collector Robert Board. As a young man, Mr. Board was an actor, appearing in films such as "Gilda" and "Red Badge of Courage" and in the television series "Mission Impossible." Mr. Board's donations, including character dolls he created from Davies' films, posters and a uniform worn by Miss Davies at a 1930 Armistice Day celebration she hosted at the Biltmore Hotel will be on display in our front gallery.
Plus we will be screening the acclaimed documentary "Captured on Film: The True Story of Marion Davies" directed by Hugh Munro Neely and produced by Elaina Archer. Narrated by Charlize Theron, this loving and insightful combination of archival film clips, interviews, and rare home movies explores her life and work, from her days dancing in the Ziegfield Follies through her relationship with Hearst, which led to Hearst creating for her a movie studio and a legendary castle where she reigned over the elite of Hollywood.
As always we will be hosting our famous raffle full of goodies and refreshments will be offered on our back deck before the program and at intermission. Please help us start the new year right by joining us for this special event!
