Recipe for Cupcakes: start with 3 uber-talented women. Add 5 to 6 instruments (3 at a time). Blend together with a bouquet of awards for songwriting and independent music. Stir in 6 CDs, sprinkle with jingles, tours with famous people, production credits, and videos. Ice the whole thing with humor and harmony. No need to bake--The Cupcakes definitely do the cooking!
With an irresistible repertoire of Americana, folk and traditional music, this band blends the talents of Lyn Hardy, well known to Caffe Lena fans for her years with The Putnam String County Band, Jay Ungar, and David Bromberg; Janice Kollar, who works as a jingle singer (you have heard her on TV, trust us) and record producer; and Elly Wininger who has played blues and ragtime guitar in NY clubs since the Folk Revival days, and whose recent rebirth as a songwriter has been met with great acclaim.
