How to Pass, Kick, Fall and Run
The Merce Cunningham Trust was established by Merce Cunningham to preserve, enhance, and maintain the integrity of his choreography and to make his work available to the public. The Trust has recently launched the Cunningham Fellowship Program to support individuals in restaging Cunningham's dances. Rashaun Mitchellwho will be staging Cunningham's amusing and enlightening work How to Pass, Kick, Fall and Run is one of a select few awarded this fellowship during the program's pilot year.
Premiered in 1965, How to Pass, Kick, Fall and Run is performed with stories from John Cage's Indeterminacy a series of paragraph-long stories, anecdotes, thoughts and jokes with one story read aloud per minute. The program will also feature Mitchell's new work, Interface, a quartet developed with musical collaborator Thomas Arsenault (Ableheads), and design by Fraser Taylor and Nicholas O'Brien.
