Savannah's most eclectic and diverse music and arts festival is back and bigger than ever! The Sixth A-Town Get Down Music & Art Festival takes place noon to midnight on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Charles H. Morris Center in Savannah. This year we are excited to announce that A-Town Get Down will be free for all ages from noon to 5pm. After 5pm $25 general ticket price and $15 with student or military ID. If we sell out of our 5 - midnight tickets before the event we will need to keep attendance to ticketed attendees.
This year's all-day festival will feature over 25 local and regional live bands and visual artists each representing diverse music genres and a myriad of artistic styles. Artists & Musicians include Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Randall Bramblett, Paris Monster, Infalliable Funk, Gill Landry, Walter Parks & The Florida Ballet, Kay Dené & the Record, Savannah Children's Choir, The Get Right Band, Andrae Murchison, Marques & The Marvelous Miracles, Waits & Co, The Live Art of Jose Ray, SCAD Ceramics, Digital Art, Loop It Up Savannah and More to be announced soon.
"This is your opportunity to experience live music and art on so many levels," said Tom Townsend, event organizer. "There's truly nothing else like it in Savannah. You could spend 12 hours hearing accomplished performers across all kinds of musical styles, see and participate in visual art, interact with any number of workshops on creativity, even jam with some great musicians. And it's all ages. Savannah's A-Town Get Down is truly unique."
The A-Town Get Down is a public music and arts festival organized in memory of Alex Townsend, a SCAD student, musician and artist whose life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident on Valentine's Day in 2010. Alex known as "A-Town" selflessly encouraged the talents of others while continuing to find his own.
Tickets are available for purchase at www.brownpapertickets.com. Free for all ages from Noon - 5pm. After 5pm ticket prices are $25 for the general public; $15 for students and military; $50 for V.I.P. passes which includes a dinner the Friday February 26. Children ages 12 and under are free. The public is urged to buy tickets in advance as it is expected the festival will sell out.
The A-Town Get Down is a project of the Alex Townsend Memorial Foundation, a tax-exempt non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The event raises funds for arts initiatives and arts education. For more information about the event please visit www.a-towngetdown.com.
