826michigan Presents Parka Weather: A Winter Fundraising Dinner!
Join special guest, novelist and National Book Award Finalist Angela Flournoy, (The Turner House) on Thursday, February 11, as we celebrate 826michigan's fourth annual feast to raise funds to provide free in-classroom writing support to Detroit teachers.
Guests will: *hear from best-selling author and National Book Award Finalist Angela Flournoy. *taste a deluxe urban feast created by Chef Sarah Welch. *learn more about 826michigan's programs which last year served 3,229 school-aged students with over 40,000 hours of one-on-one attention.

Dinner tickets: $125 VIP tickets: $250 (includes advance cocktail hour, dinner, a signed book, and twice the support to 826michigan's free writing and tutoring programs)
Proceeds from this event benefit 826michigan's In-School Projects in the City of Detroit, through which volunteers are organized on a continual basis to support teachers in under-resourced classrooms. This program currently serves several public and charter schools in the city, including Roberto Clemente Learning Academy, Detroit Achievement Academy, and Golightly Educational Center.

Bread and Butter (v): Sweet Potato Focaccia with Rosemary and Chile Butter
Lavender Greens (vg): Locally-grown Field Greens, Lavender Honey Dressing, Local Feta, Pistachio
Charred Broccolini (vg): Spicy Dressing, Garlic, Cheddar, Pickled Chiles, Breadcrumbs
Roasted Carrots (vg): Charred Local Carrots, Dill Pesto, Cashew Cream
Crispy Potato (v): Creamy Potato, House Chorizo, Scallion
House Meatball: Beef and Lamb, Almond Chile Romesco, House Pickled Chiles
Roasted Otto's Chicken: White Root Puree, Roasted Cauliflower, Black Garlic, Barley, Figs
Toffee Bread (v): Caramel Sauce, Seasonal Ice Cream
Angela Flournoy is the author of The Turner House, which is a finalist for the National Book Award and the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, a Summer 2015 Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, and a New York Times Sunday Book Review Editors' Choice. She is a National Book Foundation "5 Under 35" Honoree for 2015. Her fiction has appeared in The Paris Review, and she has written for The New York Times, The New Republic and The Los Angeles Times.
