Every month, a different local musician is interviewed and performs their original music. Having listened closely, the comedians from the local improv group The Local Music Scene then take the words and themes brought up through the songs and interview and use them as the basis and inspiration for their improvised scenes.
The Local Music Scene is: Alex Collyard, Philip Simondet, Luke Gonnella, Jeff Gyllen, Caroline Hitt, Gubby Kubik, Erik Nielsen, Will Roberts and Ali Rose. They are an improv group that has trained and performed at various local improv theater, including The Brave New Workshop, ComedySportz Twin Cities, HUGE Theater, Stevie Ray's and Jesters. All of them either ARE local musicians or at least enjoy local music. At the VERY least, they've heard the term "local music."
January guest: Graham Simons, a Minneapolis local musician focused solely on the genre of- only god knows what the hell that kind of mutant genre it is. If he were articulate enough to explain it, it might come across as folk/rock/singer-song-writer kinda thang/with an appreciation but not an inclusion for soul music! But for now let's just stick with a shrug. Besides, mysteries are exciting!
