Kevin Bleyer: Me the People
Our Constitution promised a More Perfect Union, but the revered document itself, says comedy writer Kevin Bleyer, is one hot mess. So, naturally, he has written a more perfect Constitution. Among the original's flaws, says Bleyer, the Emmy-winning writer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and author of Me the People: It doesn't mention slavery, democracy, or Facebook; it plays favorites among the states--and it's triggered more than two centuries of arguments about itself. To right all this, Bleyer flew to Greece, the birthplace of democracy; bused to Philly, the home of independence; and tracked down two John Hancocks--to make his version twice as official. Presented by the Town Hall Center for Civic Life with University Book Store. Series media sponsorship provided by PubliCola. Series supported by The Boeing Company, the RealNetworks Foundation, and the True/Brown Foundation.
