More about Nancy:
With over 35 years of restaurant experience, Nancy Oswald is dedicated to following the distinct vision of Ruth's Chris Steak House founder Ruth Fertel who believed in serving the highest quality food with exceptional service in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Along with partners Mark Oswald, Phil Brooks and Jim Brooks, Oswald owns and operates eleven Ruth's Chris restaurants throughout the southeastern U.S. which together comprise the Sizzling Steaks Concepts franchise group.
Sizzling Steak Concepts is the largest Ruth's Chris franchise worldwide, with four restaurants in metropolitan Atlanta (Buckhead, Centennial Olympic Park, Alpharetta, and Kennesaw), two in Alabama (Birmingham and Huntsville), one in Chattanooga, Tennessee and four in South Carolina (Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, and Myrtle Beach).
Oswald's passion for the restaurant industry began at the award-winning Commander's Palace in New Orleans, Louisiana. She later joined Liberty House Restaurant Corporation of Atlanta, Georgia, in 1982, as Director of Sales and Marketing. During her tenure with Liberty House, Oswald directed the advertising, public relations and promotional strategies of the company's four restaurant concepts, including Bone's Restaurant and the OK Cafe.
Oswald began her career with Ruth's Chris in 1990 when she and her husband, Mark Oswald, joined forces with the Brooks brothers at the original Atlanta, Georgia, Ruth's Chris restaurant in Buckhead in order to develop the franchise. Oswald's genuine enthusiasm for the Ruth's Chris brand, coupled with her sales and marketing expertise, has played an integral role in the success of the Sizzling Steaks Concepts' restaurants.
Oswald has been active in the Atlanta hospitality industry and presided as Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Restaurant Association (GRA) in 2006-07 as well as Chairman of the Board of the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) in the organization's 100th Anniversary year (2013). Oswald was saluted as the ACVB's Volunteer of the Year in 2005, inducted into the ACVB's Hospitality Hall of Fame in 2011, and has been named one of the "100 Most Influential Atlantans" by the ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE. She continues to be involved in the ACVB as a member of the Executive Board. Oswald also serves on both the boards of The Giving Kitchen and TGKR/Staplehouse.
Oswald graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Communications and also holds a Doctorate of Foodservice (DFS) from the North American Association of Food Equipment
Manufacturers. She has been a franchise representative on Ruth's Chris Steak House's national Advertising Council since its inception and is a member of the International Women's Forum.
Together with her husband, and business partner, Mark Oswald, Oswald was selected as the recipient of the Ruth U. Fertel Award by Ruth's Hospitality Group in 2008. The highest accolade the company bestows, this award is given to those individuals who most exemplify Ruth's legacy of service, hospitality and commitment to the brand. Additionally, the Oswalds were jointly saluted by the Georgia Restaurant Association in 2010, receiving the GRACE Lifetime Achievement Award.
