The advanced repertory ensemble from Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY) is tickled pink to present Legally Blonde the Musical, a hilarious and charming musical comedy. This remarkable group of young actors, who's ages range from 12-15, have come together under the direction of David Post to produce this fun-filled show with highly catchy songs and exuberant choreography.
Based on the hit movie, Legally Blonde the Musical is an award-winning musical sensation! College sweetheart and homecoming queen, Elle Woods, doesn't take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her for someone "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law School. This fabulous, feel-good musical is a delightful reminder that being yourself never goes out of style.
The creative team also features musical director Evan Ingalls, choreographer Lisa Markowitz, production stage manager Ashley Hanson, lighting designer Asher Suloway-Baker, and costume designer Dana Crediford.
Founded in 2006 by Artistic Director, David Post, BAAY is a non-profit arts education organization offering instructions in Theatre, Choir, Dance, Music, and Visual Arts to youth, ages 5-18. A beloved fixture in Bellingham's thriving arts community, the company has produced over 100 musicals to date.
The final verdict? This much fun shouldn't be legal! Bubbly, heart-warming, and poetic, Legally Blonde will have you yearning to "Bend and Snap" for weeks after the show! Eight performances of Legally Blonde the Musical will be held at Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth Theatre, 1059 N. State Street, Bellingham, WA over the period of two weekends, Friday through Sunday. December 4, 5, 11, 12 at 7:00 PM, December 5, 12, 13 at 2:00 PM, and December 6 at 12:00 PM. $10 General admission. Ages 5 and under free. Some material may not be suitable for younger audiences.
