Low Hums + Mindie Lind land at Space Craft
Low Hums are from Seattle Washington. Formed by Jonas Haskins in 2009 and now with close buds, Miles Panto, Mike Bayer and Chris Early. It was once said, "Low Hums create music in a few different modes, all broadly falling under the psychedelic umbrella (or mushroom cap, I suppose). From breezy '60s pop to driving fuzzed-out rock to spacey, hazy tone pieces, to psych folk."
Low Hums have to date released two full length LP's and two EP's, and has been praised by the likes of KEXP, CMJ, TourWorthy, City Arts, Noisy, The Stranger and The Weekly to name a few. The latest EP "Adventuring in the Near and Far", released on Seattle's Knick Knack Records Oct 22 2015 via cassette/digital and produced positive reviews both locally and as far away as the Czech Republic.
Live, the band is fresh and energetic, easily drawing from a long list of influences. The Zombies, Neil Young, Blue Cheer, Velvet Underground, 70's rock n roll, Them, Dead Moon all make slight appearances. Sometimes they wear costumes, sometimes not.. Often the bring 50's styled color wheels, christmas lights and smoke machines. You can tell they enjoy doing what they do and they want you to join in the fun.
Low Hums: Sonic ensemble of the creme of the crop of Seattle musicians came in and created such vast landscapes of swirling guitars, drums and bass that I felt like I was getting raptured. The bluesy, surf psychedelia was the foundation, but atmospheres of color was the house they built on it, and we all moved in, eyes glowing, arms out welcoming the lightperfect end to the evening. - Mike Dumovich - Music Director / Chautauqua Music Festival
Mindie Lind's Southern gothic sounds have been grabbing the attention of the Seattle music and arts scene-- In the past year she won KEXP's Pianos in the Parks contest, was named Seattle Magazine 50 Bands Rocking Seattle Music Right Now, City Art's Artist of the Year and was a featured performer on HBO star Lena Dunham's Not that Kind of Girl summer book tour. American Standard Time calls Mindie's music, "Moody swing, an opiate dream that celebrates the nadir, and eulogizes every zenith".
