Botanical Illustration: Camellia Intensive
Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14 9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
Botanical artist Lisa Pompelli leads an in-depth, two-day class in creating detailed flower studies in watercolor, working from camellias in The Huntington's collections. Some prior drawing skills recommended.

Hundreds of gorgeous blooms will compete for top honors at The Huntington's 44th annual Camellia Show, co-sponsored by the Southern California Camellia Society. Make a day of it by exploring acres of blooming camellias in the gardens. General admission. Brody Botanical Center.
Please bring the following items each day of class.
1 HB & 1 3H pencil Magic Rub eraser Kneaded eraser Strathmore Drawing pad (no smaller than 11 x 14) sheet of Fabriano Artistico Hot Press WC paper 140lb. 2 plastic palettes (preferably the approx. 10" x 13" palettes with squares and circles and lid) Porcelain palettes are also fine to purchase Small water container. Tracing paper White artist tape Kleenex tissue for blotting Scissors Ruler Masking Fluid Windsor Newton or Daniel Smith Small Desk Lamp w/adjustable arm and incandescent lightbulb. Please do not bring type with clamps as the base. Please do not forget to bring a lamp! Masking Fluid Windsor Newton or Daniel Smith Paint brands - either Windsor Newton, Daniel Smith, Daler Rowney or Aquarelle. Sap Green Prussian Blue and/or French Ultramarine Blue Yellow Ochre Lemon Yellow Deep Gamboge Burnt Umber Alizarin Crimson Quinacridone Magenta preferably by Daniel Smith Quinacridone Coral - preferably by Daniel Smith Quinacridone Rose preferably by Daniel Smith Scarlet Lake Permanent Rose Windsor Violet Neutral Tint Brushes Windsor Newton Cotman or da Vinci "Cosmotop" are reliable brands. Please transport your brushes carefully in order to protect their delicate tips. This may be your most important purchase so please bring good brushes.
