An Existential Sing-Along
Imagine Avenue Q and Santaland Diaries had a baby, and the surrogate mother was an episode of Laugh-In posted to YouTube (with comments enabled).
How do you choose to define real experience? What happens to us when we die? How many jelly beans are in this jar? An Existential Sing-Along aggressively answers none of these questions, preferring to invite the audience into a world of startling and interactive transformations. A sing-along becomes therapy. Snacks become death. A magic show ends in marriage and the board game Mousetrap becomes an inescapable nightmare landscape. Sure, there's cake, but no one leaves this birthday party without confronting their own mortality and affirming their responsibility for their own choices, either.
Based on the interdisciplinary show An Existential Sing-Along, performed at the PIT, Dixon Place and the New Orleans Fringe Festival, this monthly variety show will feature collaborations with special guests, long form puppet improv, raffles, give-aways, choose-your-own-adventures and constant new material. After you leave An Existential Sing-Along your perspective and/or marital status will never be the same again.
