12 Poets, Competing for $1000 & a Performance Opportunity in NYC
Hosted by Joel Fluent Greene

This will be THE BIGGEST POETRY SLAM OF THE YEAR!!!

ALL AGES ARE WELCOME. Please note that although all poets are required to keep their material clean, there may be mature subject matter. Parental discretion is advised.

Friday/January 1st/Doors open @ 5pm/Showtime 6:00pm-9:00pm
The Wright Museum/315 E. Warren/Detroit/MI.
$10 General Admission
$7 Advance
$7 Museum Members (Door only)
Free for children 12 and under
Slam is open to ages 18 & up

FIRST PLACE
$1,000 Cash/Performance with Kraal Charles Media in NYC/Paid featured performance @ an upcoming edition of Mahogany @ The Museum/Wright Museum Membership.

SECOND PLACE
Gift Bag/Paid featured performance @ an upcoming edition of Mahogany @ The Museum/Wright Museum Membership.

THIRD PLACE
Gift Bag/Paid opening performance @ an upcoming edition of Mahogany @ The Museum/Wright Museum Membership.

SLAM RULES:

12 poets.

$20 registration fee.

NO REFUNDS (Show up!)

3 rounds

Must use original poems.

Poems must be clean. Mature content is allowed, but keep in mind this is an all ages event.

No time limit per poem.

No props allowed.

There will be 4 pre selected judges. Judges will remain a secret until event day.

Slam will be scored using the decimal system. Ex: 8.7

Highest score allowed is 10.

First round will include all 12 poets.

Second round will consist of the top 8 highest scoring poets from round one, eliminating the bottom 4.

Third round will consist of the top 3 highest scoring poets from round 2, eliminating the bottom 5.

All poets must arrive NO LATER than 5:30PM day of show. Late arrival = LOSING YOUR SPOT.

Slam starts at 6PM SHARP.

Performers do not receive comp guests. All attendees that aren't competing must pay the required cover charge.
