The Hamilton Music Collective's Jazz at The Gasworks Concert series, in support of the AIFEC (An Instrument for Every Child) program, presents the final concert in the winter 2016 series:
The Don Thompson/Phil Dwyer Quartet w/ Terry Clarke drums / Jim Vivian - bass
The Don Thompson/Phil Dwyer Quartet is comprised of four of Canada's most illustrious jazz musicians, highlighting their long-standing musical relationships through their brilliant interpretations of original and classic jazz repertoire. In 2013 Phil Dwyer (saxophone) was named to the Order of Canada, is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Conservatory of Music, and has appeared on 11 Juno Award winning projects. Co-leader Thompson and drummer Terry Clarke are truly jazz masters of the first rank. They began their careers together in Vancouver in the 1960's and have gone on to become internationally recognized through performances and recordings with, among others, George Shearing, Jim Hall, Toshiko Akyoshi and the Boss Brass. Both have led Juno Award winning recordings and been recognized for their contributions to the Canadian cultural landscape by being named to the Order of Canada.
Concert starts at 8pm; doors and bar open at 7pm.
