Celebrate the New Year by letting us transport you back into a time of torch songs sung by divas in diamonds or variety shows performed by gentlemen in top hats. This year we are offering two extraordinary dinner shows that celebrate New Year's Eve with panache' and aplomb in a most intimate candlelit setting; two very unique and very fun end of year celebrations.

THE SETTING:
Lex 18's historic 1920s dining room will be decorated in a post-Edwardian style meets art deco decadence, complete with the finery of the 20s era. Tables will be lavishly dressed in velvets and lace with floral feather centerpieces, silver and crystal with candles and vintage cut crystal glasses. 'Footmen' in tails will be at the ready for each events' four and five-course dinners respectively. The bar and dining room will glow from the hundreds of candle throughout; the perfect setting.
DRESS for EARLY SHOW:
This is a black tie formal dinner. For gentlemen, if a tuxedo is not an option, then dark suit with tie or bowtie is acceptable. For ladies, evening gown or vintage costume from the era is perfect.
DRESS for LATER GALA CELEBRATION:
This is a white tie optional formal dinner; for gentlemen, a black or white tie tuxedo. For ladies, evening gown or vintage costume from the era is perfect.

SHELIA GORDON Sheila Gordon (piano, vocals) has been playing piano and singing her way in to the hearts of thousands since she was a young girl. Earlier in her career, Ms. Gordon was the star attraction at a piano bar in Nashville for ten years. Born and raised in the land of the Delta Blues, Memphis, TN, Sheila Gordon has enjoyed a unique journey in music including gospel, country, blues, jazz, and her own original work. Sheila has had the gift of making music with incredibly talented players in all of these genres and has 5 albums, 3 original works and 2 with Sheila Gordon and the Downtowners-Jazz. She has performed for large venues but as a singer, songwriter, loves the intimacy of being in touch with her audiences. Music is her Zen.
CATORI SWANN is a theatre professional based out of Arden, NC. He holds a bachelor's degree in both Acting and Technical Theatre from Catawba College, and puts every ounce of his liberal arts degree to good use. He is the Production Manager and Technical Director for Asheville's only Equity theatre company, NC Stage, and is the Operations Manager for their partner company in residence, the Immediate Theatre Project. In addition to these managerial roles, he is also the Master Electrician, Master Carpenter, Master Welder, Lighting Designer, Audio/Video Engineer, Tour Manager and Stage Manager for both companies. He can often be found acting for both of these esteemed organizations as well, and has very recently joined Actor's Equity, the union for professional actors and stage managers. Catori is a theatre maker in every sense of the word, as he has recently opened a company call Deus Ex Machina Corp. that specializes in designing, retrofitting and installing new performance spaces across Western North Carolina. His most recent installment is the new studio theatre for Montreat College, called Lou's Lab. Through this company, he offers all the services noted above to production companies anywhere in the southeast.
DAVID BOYD is a musician who grew up in Cary, North Carolina. David started singing and dancing in Fifth Grade and picked up acting at the age of 12 while performing in community theatre. David attended College at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he received his Bachelors Degree in Vocal Music. While studying at UNCG, David performed in choruses and small ensembles directed by Dr. Carole Ott and Dr. Welborn Young. Mr. Boyd also sang and assistant directed the premier all-male acappella group: The UNCG Spartones. Though he has been trained in Classical Voice, David has performed many different styles of music including Sacred music, Opera, Art Song, Pop music, Vocal Jazz, A Cappella, Early music, Barbershop, and a wide array of modern literature. Since finishing school, David has continued to pursue music in many different forms including in tandem with the new arts of Beatboxing and Vocal percussion as he continues to explore the worlds of music and sound. David currently resides in Asheville, North Carolina.

BOB STRAIN is a classically trained pianist who specializes in jazz and the American songbook of standards. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from Shepherd University, and Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from Shenandoah Conservatory, where he was on the piano faculty for eight years. He has performed extensively in the Washington, DC region, with long-term solo engagements at venues such as the Willard Intercontinental Hotel, the Gaylord National Hotel at National Harbor, MD, Mr. Henry's of Georgetown, the Bavarian Inn of Shepherdstown, WV, and Friends piano bars at Dupont Circle and Georgetown. He also has worked at various times in DC-region big bands, in funk/dance bands, and with the Howard Burns jazz trio as well as in his own trio with bassist Matt Lewis and drummer Danny Tait. As a solo pianist, Bob has an extensive repertoire of American standards (Gershwin, Kern, Berlin, Porter, Arlen, Rodgers, and more), and is fluent in a range of styles from "cocktail piano" to stride, ragtime, Dixieland, and pop. Bob has served as pianist and music director for productions at the Contemporary American Theater Festival. His jazz repertoire includes classic works by Ellington, Evans, Monk, Shorter, and others. He also maintains a substantial repertoire from the classical canon. Bob Strain is a regular performer at Lex 18 throughout the year.
BILL FOUTY, before relocating to Asheville, North Carolina in January 2014, played bass in San Francisco and the Greater Bay area for over thirty years and participated in a wide variety of musical situations and venues. In his early years, he studied the double bass with Nat Gangursky and performed with various small chamber groups and orchestras throughout Los Angeles County. Also, while in southern California, he graduated from the Dick Grove School of Music where he studied theory and composition as well as improvisation and ensemble playing. After relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1978, Bill began working as a bassist in the hospitality sector and played in jazz duo, trio and larger group formats with many fine Bay Area musicians.
