RMPJC's 2015 Elise Boulding Peacemaker of the year Award Dinner will be held on Saturday, December 5th, from 6 - 9:00 PM at the Unity of Boulder Spiritual Center at 2855 Folsom (SW corner of Folsom and Valmont). We are honored to announce that this year's award recipients are:
Dr. Paul Wehr, University of Colorado Professor Emeritus and Co-Founder of CU's Peace and Conflict Studies Certificate Program. Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifelong commitment to peace and nonviolence learning.
Richard Andrews, Researcher and developer of technologies and methodologies that will significantly lessen detrimental human impacts on the earth. Recently he has done extensive research, organizing and lobbying for local, state and national pesticide reform and scientific catastrophe analysis and lobbying regarding spent nuclear fuel and related wastes with EPA, NRC, NWTRB, DOE, National Academy of Sciences. Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifelong commitment to peace,justice and sustainability activism which, in addition to the above, has included organizing anti-war actions statewide and nationally, and conscientious objector counseling.
Lifelong Achievement award to KGNU, our local community radio station that brings us the truth about local, state and national events so that we can evaluate and understand what is happening and act for peace and social justice.
5280 Chapter of Black Lives Matter, is a part of the National Black Lives Matter movement, educating and organizing in the Denver metro area to build more loving and united Black communities while eliminating anti-Black violence and racism. Peacemaker of the Year Award for their courageous, outstanding efforts to bring about peace by ensuring inclusion and justice for all.
Fossil Free CU, an activist student group at University of Colorado, working to get the University to divest from all aspects of fossil fuels. Youth Peacemaker of the Year Award for their creative and effective organizing efforts to end the climate crisis by getting the University to divest from fossil fuels.
At 6 PM there will be a silent auction of a variety of items donated by local artists and merchants, followed by a LIVE AUCTION of a 1000 crane mobile created by local artist Jen Campos for the Peace Concert held in August to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the US bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Boulder Food Rescue will again generously donate a scrumptious homemade vegan dinner, which will be served at 6:30 PM. A beautiful, delicious vegan cake in honor of the award recipients,and more singing if there is time, will conclude the celebration of the 2015 award recipients.
