JAZZ LATINO @ GALERIA WEST with THE JOE TAINO GROUP in Concert
Image a cozy concert venue where, on the last Friday of each month you are surrounded by inspiring fine art as you enjoy an intimate concert experience with the best of Latin jazz from NYC and beyond. Teatro Si brings to you the new monthly Jazz Latino @ Galeria West concert series. On Friday, November 27, 2015 at 7:30pm the acclaimed Latin jazz and blues guitarist Joe Taino and his Group take the stage at the unique Galeria West Art & Music Gallery, located at 111 Quimby Street in downtown Westfield, NJ.
Taino is a veteran guitarist and has been doing what he does for a long time. Joe says that he became interested in music after watching the Beatles' movie A Hard Day's Night, when he was nine years old and growing up in Puerto Rico. He got his first guitar when he was eleven and says that he started learning "everything he could get his hands on." His early influences were the Beatles, Elvis, The Monkeys, Cream, Jimi Hendrix and Santana, to name a few. Taino has been recording and performing since 1972. He has shared the stage with a host of notable artists, including Peter Frampton, Judas Priest, Rick Derringer, Cindy Lauper, Gregg Allman, Carlos Santana, Jaco Pastorious, Johnny Winter, Robin Trower, Pat Travers, King Crimson, and many more. He is one of the hottest and most respected guitarists in the business and still performs every week. His newest release Incognito is a mix of all of his influences, tinged with a distinctly Latin jazz flavor.
On August 4, 2013 Joe Taino was inducted into the NYC Blues Hall of Fame at BB King's Blues club in NYC. It was a great show with Michael Packer; Jon Paris; Gabriel Butterfield; Danny and Jonathan Kalb; Bobby Harden; Rob Papparozzi; Christine Santelli; Matt Mousseau; Hap Moore and many more.....
Also enjoy the current art show at Galeria West with the photography works by local talented artist Neil Becker on display till December 10th.
Tickets are priced at $20. Advance tickets are available online at www.BrownPaperTickets.com (enter Jazz Latino @ Galeria West for event search). For reservations and more info call the Teatro Si box office at 908-301-9496 or purchase tickets in person at Galeria West in Westfield.
