Vadim Kolpakov - one of the most prominent and renowned Russian 7-string guitarists in the world, and his nephew, Sasha Kolpakov Jr. 6-string guitarist will present An Evening Of Virtuoso Guitar Music.
The program includes famous Gypsy tunes in original arrangements, Spanish music, American popular songs and jazz tunes.
VS Guitar Duo is a duo that consists of the famous Russian 7-string guitarist, Vadim Kolpakov and his nephew Sasha Kolpakov Jr. This little family ensemble continues the tradition in the fourth generation of the Kolpakov artistic dynasty. Vadim and Sasha combine music from different parts of the world, including Spanish flamenco, American jazz, Latin rhythms and Romany (Gypsy) funky sounds. They have performed in many U.S. cities such as Miami, New York, Charlotte, as well as in Singapore. VS Guitar Duo always gets a great response and standing ovations of the audience.
Vadim Kolpakov is a virtuoso Russian-Romany (Gypsy) seven-string guitarist, dancer, and vocalist. He has performed extensively in Russia and abroad, including at Carnegie Hall and the Kremlin. He has also participated in numerous musical projects on Russian, Canadian, and American television and radio. Since the mid-1990s, he has been a member of the Russian-Romany group The Kolpakov Trio, and in 2004 he assembled his own group in the United States, Via Romen. His musical repertoire includes 19th-century Russian seven-string guitar, and Gypsy, classical, rap, pop and world music. In 2008 and 2009, Vadim participated in Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet" world tour as a part of The Kolpakov Trio. Alexander (Sasha) Kolpakov Jr. is a young guitar virtuoso who comes from a Romani family that gave the world several generations of professional musicians. A graduate of the Nostsova music College in Russia, Sasha has performed in Russia and abroad with various musical ensembles. He and Vadim Kolpakov perform as a VS Guitar Duo and with Via Romen USbased ensemble. Similar to his uncle Vadim, Sasha represents Kremona Guitars. Sasha performs classical, Russian-Romany (Gypsy), pop, flamenco and jazz music.
