800lb Film Festival
Cinema North East celebrates 15 years of the 800 Lb. Film Festival in May 2012. This festival is held to feature the program's most heart pounding, jaw dropping, tear jerking, and laugh inducing films.
The festival will take place at Santikos Northwest Cinema located at 7600 IH-10 West San Antonio, TX 78230.
The festival name was derived when an individual at an awards ceremony noted the number of awards that cinema students were receiving at a particular competition. They referred to members of the program as the "eight-hundred pound gorilla in the room." The term had a certain ring to it and shortly after, the 800lb. Film Festival was born.
