Liana Forest, Concert Pianist
Russian-born pianist and recording artist Liana Forest presents "Bach to Broadway," a crossover virtuoso show, featuring modern jazzy arrangements of Bach, Chopin's Polonaise, Bumble Boogie and a West Side Story medley. She has appeared in concerts throughout the world, receiving acclaim for her virtuoso skills, musical insight and warm stage presence. Her international career extends from the concert stage to the recording studio, from summer festivals to Royal command performances.
She grew up a student of a renowned professor Ludmila Ginsburg, who was also a graduate from Moscow Conservatoire under the tutelage of famous Heinrich Neuhaus, who counted Richter and Gilels among his pupils. Inheriting her celebrated teacher's passion and poetic approach, Liana favors a repertoire from Romantic periods.
Liana toured nationally in the U.S. beginning in 1993 under the auspices of Columbia Artists, Inc. She has appeared as a recitalist and soloist with symphony orchestras and was a soloist with the San Francisco Midsummer Mozart Festival orchestra, conducted by George Cleve. Liana appeared also in recitals in Germany and Austria, and performed for Princess Sofia of Romania. More recently she has appeared on National European Television in Holland, as well as made orchestral and recital appearances in the U.S., Africa, Europe and Asia. Her acclaimed recordings of Romantic piano music are distributed worldwide.
As one reviewer commented, "Liana Forest is a brilliant interpreter who could not hide her Russian soul. Passion and poetic surrender, ecstatic moments of highest truth and beauty!"
