World AIDS Day 2015 SF - Week of Observance with AIDS Quilt: 12/1-12/6, 2015
World AIDS Day SF - 2015 - Week of Observance & Events with AIDS Quilt: 12/1-12/6, 2015 ... Park Presidio UMC - 4301 Geary, SF December 1st was designated as World AIDS Day in 1988 to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic and to mourn those who had lost their lives to the disease. We will be using the viewing of a panel from the the AIDS Quilt the week of December 1-6, 2015 as a framework to create programming that not only commemorates those who have lost their lives, but lift up the stories of people who continue to live with HIV/AIDS, address social justice issues, and inspire the attendees and the church to advocacy. The AIDS quilt is a moving testament to grief, memory and how art forges a deeper, more human connection to a global catastrophe. Young and old activists who have made a huge difference in San Francisco will be coming together throughout the week. Join us for a life-affirming experience. HIGHLIGHTS : Dec 2-Cleve Jones (founder of the NAMES Project) will on the panel at the showing of "Common Threads." Dec 3-Vincent Crisostomo of 50 Plus Network, SF AIDS Foundation will on the panel at the showing of "We Were Here." Dec 6- Page Hodel and Austin Padilla will be accepting Inspirational Activist Awards. Throughout the 6-day event, we will have viewing of a display from the AIDS Quilt in the Sanctuary.
