SCRIPTED
The Willits Community Theatre presents its first ever "holiday" version of its popular Scripted series. Scripted is an ongoing event at WCT that gives people who have never acted or directed a chance to try without committing to a full, multi-act play, and consists of a series of 10 minute, one-act plays. This years plays are centered around a winter theme. The following is a taste of some of the plays this year.
In, Outsourcing Christmas, twenty-something brother and sister begrudgingly return home for Christmas only to find that their parents have gone off to the Bahamas for the holidays. In their stead the parents have hired another couple (grandparents age), who do this as a business, to be their stand-ins. Lots of sizzling interaction between the 4 characters.
In, Angela's Restaurant, Hard times have fallen on a generous and kind restaurateur in the bad area of town. Her kindness has not been un-noticed. As she prepares to close her restaurant for good, she helps one last patron...a homeless woman who is not what she seems. The homeless woman is an "Angel" who has come to make her "Silent Night" Merry and bright.
Our lives can be messed up enough without throwing Christmas into the equation. In Two Turtle Doves two apartment-house neighbors meet for the first time when one knocks on the other's door at 10 minutes to midnight Christmas Day. Hey, the day's not over yet.
In, Joe & Eddy's, its early Christmas Eve, and Tom the bartender is the only one in Joe & Eddy's bar. He is visited by what turns out to be a spirit from his past.
Other plays included in the event will be No Sound of Music, and The True Meaning of Christmas.
This year will see the return of a few known directors like Damian Sebhouian and Don Sampson, as well as a few new directors including Virginia Handley, Liz Dellett, and Kevin Klay. Some returning onstage talent includes Kelly Kesey, Christopher Martin, and Bruce Andich.
Come and laugh, come and be moved, come and be amazed! Scripted will play December 4-6, and 11-13, 2015. Tickets for the event are $10. Show starts at 8:00 on Friday and Saturday and 2:00 on Sunday.
