Handel: Israel in Egypt
TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR AFTER ONLINE SALES HAVE ENDED.
The Queen City Chamber Opera, in partnership with the Mayerson JCC, presents the Exodus in Music and Art. This multi-faceted event features performances of Handel's Israel in Egypt and original installation art from local artist Deborah Brod. This celebration of the spirit of Passover explores artistic depictions of a journey toward freedom, justice, equality, and identity. The two performances will serve as the Midwest premiere of Israel in Egypt in its entirety. This one-of-a-kind, collaborative experience is created specifically for the Mayerson JCC. The performances will feature a 16-voice chamber choir and a 30-piece orchestra conducted by Isaac Selya. A projected slide show designed by Lizzy DuQuette with images inspired by the music accompanies the performances.
Following the performances, Deborah Brod's work will remain as an exhibit, and Brod will attend the Mayerson JCC and lead workshops related to the displayed piece.
Two performances:
THURSDAY, APRIL 14th AT 8.00 PM
Exhibition opening and reception with complimentary light bites beginning at 7.00 pm, one hour before the performance starts.
SUNDAY, APRIL 17th AT 3.00 PM
