Michael & Jennifer McLain & The Banjocats - January 23, 2016
Husband and wife, Michael and Jennifer McLain, are banjo players and have been playing together since their first date. Their concerts always include banjo music, but also feature outstanding vocals, guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and upright bass.
Growing up, Michael performed with his family, the McLain Family Band, all across the US and overseas, including concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum, Lincoln Center, and Chicago's Orchestra Hall. For several years he toured and recorded as part of the Claire Lynch Band as well as with Dale Ann Bradley. Michael's guitar style is clean, similar to the tone of Tony Rice, but with a fresh approach to improvisation. Jennifer has recorded vocals for major label, independent label, and demo sessions in Nashville. She has shared the stage with Vince Gill, Lionel Cartwright, Richard Marx, and Justin Rivers ("The Voice"). Jennifer's voice is pretty like Alison Krauss, but reflects where she is from in the Blue Ridge region of Virginia.
