Wendy MacIsaac with Janine Randall- Traditional Cape Breton Music and Square Dance
Wendy MacIsaac is a renowned fiddler from Cape Breton who has been playing music for over 30 years. She is recognized as one of the "old school" style of players who has kept the traditional sound going and has a deep respect for it. She is highly sought after not only to teach the genre, but also to play at dances all over Nova Scotia where her style energizes the dancers.
Wendy is also an accomplished pianist and step dancer.
Her latest recording, Off the Floor, has been nominated by Music Nova Scotia for Traditional/Roots Recording of the Year and by Canadian Folk Music for Solo Instrumental Artist of the Year. This recording has already won ECMA Traditional Instrumental Recording of the Year.
Janine (Muise) Randall is a first generation American born of ex-pat, musical Cape Breton parents known for their legendary Boston house parties. She started step dancing as a young girl and later became a piano accompanist for Cape Breton dances and has performied with leading Cape Breton and Irish musicians from the Yukon to Scotland. With six CDs to her credit, Janine is also a researcher / teacher who has presented published papers and workshops on Cape Breton Music and Dance.
