Preview Tickets - Reading The Riot Act by Periplum
The true stories of Stoke-on-Trent's 1842 Chartist Riots are brought to life in a unique site specific performance event, Reading The Riot Act by the brilliant Periplum, seen in Hanley last summer with their spectacular show, The Bell.
Witness the unfolding of this true tale in a way that's never before been told. Sign up and turn detective on this intimate journey through the magnificent Fenton Library which was first opened in 1909 but sadly closed in 2012. Follow the eye-view of local miners & pottery workers unwittingly caught up in the drama and discover the stories of the day the riots rippled across the 6 towns. The experience uses visual installations and iPad navigation to lead you through a portal back in time.
Audience enter in pairs for this site-specific experience which lasts approximately 30-40 minutes. You can experience the events of the riots through the eyes of either the miners or the pottery workers (2 tickets available for each per slot).
