Goal of Training When you find yourself trapped in an addiction, recovery can seem impossible. This presentation focuses on the life and emotional skills that can help clients navigate recovery and how to teach those skills to clients. Participants will explore the teaching techniques, analogies and metaphors that raise effectiveness of recovery and allow for the setting of teaching moments. The training will allow for participants to practice various recovery skills, such as awareness and quieting of self, that assist in relapse prevention.
Behavioral Objectives This training will overlap the Core and Intermediate focus with helpful information for both levels of professionals. Participants at this training will be able to:
- Define "The Waterfall Concept" of approaching relapse prevention, - Describe self-awareness and demonstrate techniques in teaching awareness to others, - Describe acceptance and demonstrate techniques of teaching acceptance to others, - List techniques to quiet the emotional self and demonstrate techniques to others, and - List 5 emotional skills that aid in addiction recovery process.

Trainer Roger Stark, CDP, is a Recovery Coach. He is a retired addictions counselor. Roger attended CDP classes at Clark College, in Vancouver, WA. As the author of The Waterfall Concept, he describes the book as, "an addict's owner's manuala blueprint for recovery." Please notify CDTC if you are unable to attend training. Refund: A refund of the registration cost, not any associated fees, may be given only when notification is given at least 3 days prior to the training. Notification under 3 days will follow the credit agreement. Credit: If notification is given within 1 week after the training, a credit will be given for the next training only. If CDTC cancels training, registration fees will be refunded in full.
Lunch:There is a one hour lunch break on your own. There is a large cafeteria at the hospital in addition to a smaller cafe and coffee shop with pre-made meals available. Several lunch options are available to the East, past I-205. It is recommended that you check google maps to check for lunch options including Sweet Tomatoes, Chuck's Produce, or fast food restaurants such as Arby's, Taco Bell or Burgerville.
