CARRIE NEWCOMER
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer has been described as "a soaring songstress" by Billboard, a "prairie mystic" by the Boston Globe, and Rolling Stone has acclaimed her music as "rapturously tuneful," adding that she "asks all the right questions."
With 15 solo albums to her credit, Carrie has toured extensively throughout U.S. and Europe, and has also toured with Alison Krauss. Nickel Creek recorded her song, I Should've Known Better, on their Grammy-winning album "This Side." She was listed as one of "the 50 most influential folk musicians of the past 50 years" by Chicago's WFMT.
She has appeared at venues as diverse as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Londons Royal Festival Hall, a humble rural school in Africa, a womens cooperative in India, and a Quaker meeting house in Ramala.
Carrie has attracted a devoted following with her warm voice, captivating melodies, and an irreverent yet spiritual view of the world. She was recently featured on Krista Tippetts NPR show"On Being" and this year she will be inducted into The Great American Songbook Foundation, founded by Michael Feinstein.
The Associated Press said that she combines a rich voice with equally rich lyrics to weave a tapestry of life and hope. The Village Voice has acclaimed Carries burning talent, glinting with musical brightness and emotional layers.
Carrie is a touchstone of authenticity a beautiful singer and songwriter, and deeply refreshing. - Rosanne Cash
"I love Carrie Newcomer. She writes and sings about what is most personal to her and in doing so she speaks to the wider world. Her song 'Geodes' will make you catch your breath with its wisdom and beauty." Mary Chapin Carpenter
