Two Alike: Jack Ferver and Marc Swanson
Choreographer JACK FERVER & sculptor MARC SWANSON collaborate on this visceral and darkly humorous performance, exploring the shattering affects of abuse on queer youth. Rapid-fire dialogue & choreographic jump cuts mark Ferver's first Boston performance. Sculptor Swanson uses powerful mixed media to explore identity, nostalgia & conflict.

A collaboration between choreographer and performer Jack Ferver and sculptor Marc Swanson, Ferver acts as the emotive flesh and voice inside Swanson's eerie mirrored set/sculpture, delivering a performance that twists and turns between past and present with pastoral prose, frightening confessionals, and haunting choreography built from interviews between the two artists, improvisation, and states of trance.
One of the most riveting performers in American dance, Ferver has been called a "contemporary chameleon" and his work has been compared to the brilliant video artist Ryan Trecartin in its use of fast choreographic jump cuts and rapid-fire dialogue. Based in New York City, this performance will mark Ferver's first performance in Boston.
Self-identity, development, conflict and nostalgia are all re-occurring themes found in the works of artist Marc Swanson. Working in a diverse range of mixed media that incorporates photography, sculpture, drawing, collage, video and installation, he's been recognized as "the archetypal constructivist for today."
This collaboration marks the sixth iteration of the ongoing partnership between Summer Stages Dance at Concord Academy and the ICA, exploring the relationship between contemporary dance and other artistic disciplines
