On the Corner
PLEASE READ: Thank you for supporting Civic Ensemble and our remounting of On the Corner. If you've come to reserve tickets, but have been told that sales have ended, not to worry! This message only means that reservations through Brown Paper Tickets are closed- but we still have plenty of seats available. Just come meet us at Beverly J Martin School and enjoy the show!
On the Corner, Civic Ensemble's 2015 community-based play, ran for five performances in early October 2015. With the support of community organizations that wanted the community to have more opportunities to see this historical and epic play, it is being remounted for three more shows! Sponsors of the show are: Cornell Cooperative Extension, Greenstar Cooperative Market, Multicultural Resource Center, GIAC, Village at Ithaca, and the Tompkins County Office of Human Rights.
On the Corner follows Julian, an African-American teenager, and the white police officer who detains him, as they travel from the Wall Street slave market of 1690, to a Bronx high school in 1978. When they disagree about the meaning of this history, their journey leads them to the heart of our divided America, and the possibility of a new future.
The show is free but reservations are encouraged. It is free to reserve; there is no ticketing fee. Donations welcome.
